Leg Edema, Swollen Legs, and Tired Legs

Many people have leg edema and swollen or tired legs. This can be an indication of vein disease. Many people think that if they have no visible varicose veins, their veins are healthy, but this is not true. Vein disease often causes other symptoms, such as leg edema and swollen or tired legs.

Symptoms of Vein Disease

Leg Swelling (Edema): Many people experience swelling in their legs and ankles occasionally. It can come from a strain or sprain or from “overdoing it” while playing sports.  If the swelling persists for weeks or months, it might be a sign of a vein disease that is causing circulation problems.

Tired Legs: Another potential sign of “hidden” vein disease is having legs that feel tired all the time. This is not a “sign of aging,” as many people believe. More often, it is an indication of vein diseases such as chronic venous insufficiency or deep vein thrombosis that are hurting your circulation.
