As the Director of the Primary Care Scholars Program at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Dr. Sta. Ana collaborated with the Dean of Medical Education, Chair of the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health, and Dean of Admissions to create a longitudinal clinical, research, and advocacy experience for Mount Sinai medical students interested in primary care for underserved communities.  Dr. Sta. Ana has dedicated himself to providing mentorship to the next generation of primary care physicians.  He leads by example to shape medical students into empathetic, devoted providers who extend care beyond the exam room through research and advocacy.  As the program director, Dr. Sta. Ana has built a diverse base of faculty mentors and developed a comprehensive curriculum that builds throughout students’ four years of school. The students are immersed in patient-centered care, team work, health policy and health disparities all while rotating through the outstanding clinical practices in the Mount Sinai Health System and the Institute for Family Health.  Dr. Sta.Ana is also faculty at the Institute for Family Health's Harlem Residency in Family Medicine, where he serves as Chair of the Residency Curriculum Committee.
