Dr. Talia Wiesel is an Assistant Professor of Psychology in Clinical Psychiatry at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in the Division of Tics, OCD and Related Disorders (DTOR). Dr. Wiesel completed her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Yeshiva University, Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She specializes in treating people with OCD, tics, body dysmorphic disorder and trichotillomania (persistent hair pulling). Dr. Wiesel also specializes in treating depression and anxiety disorders, including panic disorder, phobias, and social anxiety disorder. She uses strategies from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), including exposure and response prevention (ERP), mindfulness- and acceptance-based therapies and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to help people to better manage their symptoms, find relief, and engage in their lives more fully. Dr. Wiesel has trained extensively in CBT. She completed an APA-accredited clinical internship at Weill Cornell Medical Center/New York-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City where she gained expertise in CBT, schema therapy, and DBT for mood and anxiety disorders, OCD and personality disorders. She went on to pursue a postdoctoral fellowship at North Shore Long Island Jewish Medical Center where she focused on the treatment of OCD and bipolar disorder. Dr. Wiesel has published in the area of psycho-oncology, particularly on manifestations and treatment of depression and anxiety in those with cancer, and has presented her work at multiple national and international conferences. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, New York City Cognitive Behavior Therapy (NYC CBT), the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, and the International OCD Foundation. Dr. Wiesel received advanced certification from the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, and is a diplomate of the Academy.
