Swapna Vaidya, MD is the Director of Transplant Psychiatry as well as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Mount Sinai Medical Center. She completed her medical training in Mumbai, India and did her psychiatry residency at St Lukes –Roosevelt Hospital in NYC. She went on to do a fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine at NYU-Bellevue Hospital and then worked in the area of medical psychiatry for two years prior to coming to Mount Sinai. She is board certified in General Adult Psychiatry and Psychiatry of the Medically Ill. While at NYU, she served as the Vice Chair of the hospital wide smoking cessation committee.. In addition to working on the general psychiatric consultation liaison service treating psychiatric conditions in the medically ill, she is currently the Director of Transplant Psychiatry at the Recanati/Miller Transplantion Institute at Mount Sinai Hospital. Her areas of interest include: organ transplant, smoking cessation, chronic medical illness, psychopharmacology and psychotherapy of the medically ill. She is fluent in English, Hindi, and Marathi.
