About Me

Suzan Uysal, PhD, ABPP-CN is a board-certified neuropsychologist, and an educator, researcher, and clinician.

Dr. Uysal is co-director of the Neuropsychology Fellowship program in the Department of Neurology.  She also teaches in the neuropsychology training programs in the Departments of Rehabilitation Medicine and Psychiatry, and the New York University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.  She authored Uysal S. Functional Neuroanatomy and Clinical Neuroscience: Foundations for Understanding Disorders of Cognition and Behavior. New York, NY: Oxford University Press, 2023, a textbook/reference that interleaves discussion of functional neuroanatomy, clinical neuroscience, and disorders of the human central nervous system with descriptions of neurocognitive and neurobehavioral syndromes and presents the material in a manner that is accessible and relevant for clinical neuropsychology students, early career neuropsychologists, and other non-physician healthcare professionals.

Dr. Uysal's research in the Department of Anesthesiology has focused on neuroprotection and cognitive outcomes in cardiac and thoracic aortic surgery pateints.  She co-edited two clinical handbooks: (1) Reich DL, Mayer SA, Uysal S (eds.). Neuroprotection in Critical Care and Perioperative Medicine. New York, NY: Oxford University Press, 2018; and (2) Leibowitz AB, Uysal S (eds.). Modern Monitoring in Anesthesiology and Perioperative Care. New York, NY: Cambridge University Press, 2020.

Dr. Uysal's clinical focus is in diagnostic neuropsychological assessment.
