Suzan Uysal, PhD, ABPP-CN is a board certified neuropsychologist, educator, clinician, and researcher.
Dr. Uysal has been dedicated to educating future neuropsychologists for many years. She teaches Functional Neuroanatomy and Clinical Neuroscience in the Department of Psychiatry predoctoral internship and postdoctoral training programs in Neuropsychology, as well as in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine predoctoral internship and postdoctoral training programs in Rehabilitation Psychology and Clinical Neuropsychology. She is an adjunct faculty member in the New York University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Department of Psychology, where she teaches a graduate level course tilted Neuropsychology.
Dr. Uysal’s primary clinical focus is neuropsychological assessment for differential diagnosis of dementia syndromes. She also performs neuropsychological assessment in patients with stroke, traumatic brain injury, epilepsy and other neurological disorders.

Neurocognitive Outcomes and Neuroprotection
Dr. Uysal’s research has focused on neurocognitive outcomes and neuroprotection in cardiac surgery. She is a co-editor of a clinical handbook titled Neuroprotection in Critical Care and Perioperative Medicine, with co-editors David L. Reich, MD and Stephan A. Mayer, M.D. (Oxford University Press, 2018). Past clinical research areas include functional cortical mapping in epilepsy surgery candidates and quality of life following traumatic brain injury. Prior to that she worked in basic behavioral neuroscience research on studies focused on neural mechanisms related to substance abuse disorders and schizophrenia.
