About Me

Dr. Sahil Khera joined Mount Sinai Heart and the Zena and Michael A. Wiener Cardiovascular Institute fulltime faculty, in the role of Assistant Professor of Medicine, in 2019. He currently serves as the Interventional Director of the Structural Heart Program at Mount Sinai Hospital. In addition, he also serves as a Core Faculty for the structural heart disease fellowship program and the Director of the ADS inpatient telemetry service.  


Dr. Khera studied medicine at the University of Delhi. After moving to the United States, he trained in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease at New York Medical College (Valhalla, NY) and earned a MPH from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Dr. Khera completed his fellowships in interventional cardiology at the Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School (Boston) and structural heart disease interventions at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center (New York). Dr. Khera is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology and comprehensive adult echocardiography.
He is actively involved in cardiovascular outcomes research, especially in the field of coronary artery disease and transcatheter valve therapies. Dr. Khera is actively involved in multiple coronary and structural heart clinical trials. He has authored/co-authored more than 100 peer reviewed manuscripts and has presented at various local, national, and international meetings. He also serves as a peer reviewer for >30 medical journals. He has proctored all across the country and continues to train physicians in best transcatheter valve implantation techniques and building operational efficiency. 
Dr. Khera is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Society, Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) and Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI). His clinical focus includes an entire spectrum of transcatheter mitral valve therapies, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, ASD/PFO closure, paravalvular leak closure, and left atrial appendage closure, in addition to coronary interventions.
His administrative focus is on cost-effectiveness of transcatheter therapies for heart diseases with a goal of optimizing efficiency and outcomes of a structural heart program with improved patient experience and satisfaction.
Dr. Khera is fluent in English, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu.
