Renuka Paka, MD, is a senior faculty attending in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and Mount Sinai West, and has been on the faculty here since 1993. She is a board-certified, experienced physician, expert in all areas of general obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Paka offers routine office care and birth control visits; in addition, she is a skilled minimally-invasive surgeon and offers laparoscopic and vaginal surgical treatments for gynecologic problems, including uterine fibroids. Dr. Paka offers a full range of prenatal and obstetric care, including the option to deliver in the natural Birthing Center for women with low-risk pregnancies. Her practice also includes three certified nurse midwives, who work in consultation with Dr. Paka to provide optimal care in the Birthing Center and in the office. A native of India, Dr. Paka received state merit scholarships for the entirety of her medical education at Guntur Medical College, and completed her medical degree in 1976. She continued at Guntur Medical College for her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology, graduating in 1981. Dr. Paka worked in private practice in India, and then, as an attending physician in Skikda, Algeria, through 1984. After coming to the United States, she enrolled and completed the Residency Program in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Lincoln Hospital, in the Bronx, from 1988 through 1992. While there, she was named Outstanding Resident of the Year in 1989, and was an Administrative Chief Resident in the academic year 1991-1992. Dr. Paka was also an assistant clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons from 2003-2013, and she is now an assistant professor of obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive science at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
