About Me

Dr. Ranjit Suri MD, FACC, FHRS began his medical training in India, where he received his medical degree from Armed Forces Medical College (Poona University) and his MD degree from the premier Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (Chandigarh). Following relocation to the United States, he completed fellowships in pulmonary, critical care, and cardiovascular medicine at the University of Connecticut (UCONN) School of Medicine; he proceeded to serve on the UCONN faculty with dual appointments in Cardiology and Critical Care and was Chief of Cardiology at the affiliated Veterans Administration Hospital. Dr. Suri pursued fellowship training in clinical cardiac electrophysiology at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, where he served on the arrhythmia service prior to moving to New York. In New York, Dr. Suri developed an arrhythmia service at New York Hospital Queens and was Director of the Cardiac Electrophysiology Laboratory and Heart Rhythm Center from 2001 - 2008. As a senior member of the Lenox Hill Cardiovascular Department, he headed the hospital's arrhythmia service from 2008 to 2013, before establishing Heart Rhythm Associates of New York. This successful Cardiac Electrophysiology group is based in Manhattan with outreach programs in the New York metro area. In addition to his role as President of Heart Rhythm Associates, Dr. Suri is Director of Cardiology for the accountable care organization NY Elite. Dr. Suri has a faculty appointment at Weill Medical College of Cornell University and is ABIM certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology. He is also certified by the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) in cardiac device therapy. His clinical interests include the management of atrial and ventricular arrhythmias and the prevention of sudden death, arrhythmic stroke and recurrent syncope. His current research interests include health care economics and the impact of the cardio-metabolic syndrome on atrial fibrillation. He is the national PI for the SDD-ICD trial that is randomizing 600 defibrillator patients to same day versus next day discharge post implantation. To improve quality in cardiac care, Dr. Suri is presently developing an electronic health management system that enables remote monitoring of cardiac implantable electronic devices and other physiologic signals from ambulatory patients. Dr. Suri is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Heart Rhythm Society. He has been recognized by New York Magazine, Castle Connolly Top Doctors, Super Doctors, and Marquis Who's Who.
