About Me

Dr. Rachel Weller is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and the Project Manager of the Alliance between Mount Sinai's Addiction Institute (AIMS) and Center on Addiction (CoA).  Dr. Weller is a licensed clinical psychologist in New York City with a demonstrated history of providing child, adolescent, and adult psychotherapy.  She completed her graduate training in clinical psychology at Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology, where she received her M.A. and PsyD. degrees. 

Dr. Weller’s clinical experiences have spanned across school district, community mental health, outpatient, psychiatric hospital, residential, Veteran’s hospital, and private practice settings.  She utilizes an integrative approach to treatment—drawing influence from psychodynamic, mindfulness and acceptance-based (e.g., Acceptance and Commitment Therapy [ACT]), and evidence-based approaches (e.g., Cognitive-behavioral Therapy [CBT]; Dialectical Behavior Therapy [DBT]) and modified to fit the individual needs of the individuals she serves.  Dr. Weller’s personal style is characterized by warmth, authenticity, and a commitment to understanding her client’s unique strengths/resources in order to enact meaningful change.  She provides individual, group, and couples/family therapy.  Her areas of specialization include: mood disorders, co-occurring disorders (mental health and chemical dependency), life transitions (career/phase of life), trauma, and relationship issues.
