About Me

Nima Patel, MD received her medical degree from SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine. During her residency in general surgery at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey she was nominated for the Golden AppleTeaching Award and was also Chief Resident of her residency program. Dr. Patel completed further comprehensive subspecialty training in plastic surgery at The Summa Health/Northeastern Ohio Universities Colleges of Medicine. While she was in this program she traveled to Chile with Rotaplast of Rotary International which provides free reconstructive surgery for children in need. She continued her training as a fellow in breast and microvascular reconstructive surgery at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

Dr. Patel has presented her research at major national and international meetings. She has authored and published several papers, book chapters, and abstracts and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgery.

Dr. Patel focuses her clinical interests on both the aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of the face, breast and body. She provides a range of services, both surgical and non-surgical, addressing the aesthetic concerns of her patients. As a reconstructive surgeon her goal is to correct defects that are caused by cancer, trauma, or that are congenital by using a skin graft, moving around local tissue, or microvascular surgery.

In regards to her community involvement, Dr. Patel is the East Coast manager of Breast Oasis, a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to supporting communities by providing women who may not be able to afford them, with clean, certified, gently used bras.  She is also committed to educating the community about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and how to make informed decisions regarding health care. She participates in the Mount Sinai Queens community outreach program by giving lectures on topics including breast reconstructive surgery and how to choose a plastic surgeon.
