Neha Bhardwaj, MS, MD, is a faculty physician in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and Mount Sinai West. She is also an assistant professor at the Icahn School of Medicine. In her practice, Dr. Bhardwaj sees patients for all general gynecology issues. A trained academic subspecialist in Family Planning, she has special expertise in all types of contraception, in abortion, and in miscarriage management. Dr. Bhardwaj is fluent in English and Hindi, and also speaks conversational Spanish and Punjabi. Dr. Bhardwaj began her academic training when she attended Northwestern University for her BA in psychology, graduating in 2004. During her undergraduate career, she spent six months as an Amnesty International human rights educator at a nearby high school, and a year as a research assistant, studying the social psychology of stereotypes. After graduation from Northwestern, she stayed in the Chicago area, at Heartland Alliance, where she was a mental health worker. She entered the Rush University Medical College in 2006, and earned her medical degree there in 2010. She participated in many professional activities as a medical student. Notably, from 2008-2010, she was co-founder and treasurer of the college’s chapter of Medical Students for Choice. She also chaired several committees for the American Medical Students’ Association. Dr. Bhardwaj completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in 2014. During residency, she earned numerous awards for teaching medical students, and was an administrative chief during her final year. Dr. Bhardwaj completed the Family Planning Fellowship Program in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, graduating in 2016. During her fellowship training, she played a standout role as an advocate for women’s reproductive healthcare and abortion rights, testifying before the New Mexico State Legislature, leading reproductive health empowerment workshops, and serving as a mentor to obstetrics and gynecology residents in women’s health education. Her scholarly achievements include a number of research presentations and publications on contraception education. Also during her fellowship, she earned a master’s degree in biomedical science at the University of New Mexico.
