About Me

I am the leader of the group that has an expertise in the analysis of large Healthcare data sets. The goal of the local, state and national health and administrative hospital data sets analysis is to provide an independent assessment of outcomes outside of the controlled experimental conditions of clinical trials to help providers, policy makers and patients with decision-making in Healthcare. Our group maintains and updates a library of more than a decade worth of state-wide hospital discharge data sets; e.g. of New York State, Florida, New Jersey, and California. It also has a library of national databases, such as the Nationwide Inpatient Sample (NIS),  Nationwide Emergency Department Sample (NEDS), the National Hospital Discharge Survey (NHDS), as well as the Medicare discharge data set for AAA repairs, which alone contains more than 210 million records, and for Medicare Heart Failure patients. We analyze the LifeLine screen - the biggest data base of screening for vascular diseases in the United States. I have been involved in a wide variety of research projects at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine where I played an integral role in these analyses, working closely with the clinical investigators.
