Dr. Sivendran received her BA from the University of Pennsylvania in 2005 and was on the Dean’s List during her undergraduate education. She was awarded her M.D. degree from Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in 2010. In 2008, she was elected into the Hobart Armory Hare Medical Honor Society and was involved with the Pathology Program for Advanced Study. Dr. Sivendran did her transitional year in Internal Medicine at Albert Einstein Medical Center and then entered her dermatology residency at Geisinger Medical Center, which she successfully completed in 2014. In 2013, Dr. Sivendran was the recipient of the Women’s Dermatology Society’s Mentorship Award Program. Dr. Sivendran is Board certified and licensed to practice medicine in New York.
During her residency Dr. Sivendran focused her research on gene signatures in melanoma, working collaboratively with Mount Sinai while working at Geisinger Medical Center. This fruitful research resulted in the identification of the CD2 biomarker that could predict non-recurrence and increased survival. This groundbreaking work has been published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and the Journal of Investigative Dermatology. She is the coauthor of another publication in the Archives of Dermatology.
Dr. Sivendran has presented in a number of venues including the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology (2013, 2014), the 8th World Congress of Melanoma (2013), the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Oncology (2013), the Pennsylvania Academy of Dermatology (2012), the 46th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Dermatopathology (2009), and the 10th Annual Research Symposium in Pathology sponsored by Jefferson Medical College (2008).
