Dr. Maria Loizos is a clinical neuropsychologist in the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC), a clinical supervisor in the Adult Neuropsychology Center and Adult Psychology Internship Program, and Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
She completed her predoctoral internship training with specialization in neuropsychology at Staten Island University Hospital (Northwell Health) and her postdoctoral fellowship in neuropsychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology with a minor in clinical neuropsychology from Yeshiva University, Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology. Dr. Loizos is presently a T32 Fellow in the Older Adults-Vulnerable Populations (OAVP) research training program.
Dr. Loizos provides neuropsychological consultations for adult patients with memory loss and dementia. She also trains psychology doctoral candidates to administer neuropsychological tests and interpret cognitive data. Dr. Loizos's recent research focuses on increasing digital literacy and technology use in diverse older adult populations. She is a recent recipient of a Pepper Pilot grant on developing training for MyChart use for older adults with mild cognitive impairment. She coordinates the Brain Tissue Donation Program at the ADRC, a program which allows participants to help others by contributing to the advancement of our understanding of Alzheimer's disease, other dementias, and healthy aging.
