About Me

Dr. Laurie Polis is an Assistant Clinical Professor at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She is a Board Certified Dermatologist and Dermatological Surgeon; Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Academy of Cosmetic Surgeons, American Society for Dermatological Surgery, American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery (since 1998-). She has taught cosmetic, medical, surgical and laser Dermatology to students, residents, fellows and other attending physicians from around the world. In addition to her MD, she holds an RN degree, and a license in Acupuncture for research.

 

Dr. Polis graduated medical school with honors from the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. She completed her Dermatology Specialty training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in New York. She completed additional training in Dermatopathology from New York University Medical Center and completed several periods of training in advanced laser techniques with faculty from Mass General / Harvard University.

Dr. Polis is well known for her work in the field of Cosmetic Dermatology and is frequently quoted in the media and on TV. She has established an excellent reputation and practice based on word of mouth, physician and patient referrals, media coverage and recommendations. Her patient base includes multiple well-known figures of stage, screen, fashion modeling and the motion picture industry.

 

Dr. Polis has been included in the Castle Connelly/ New York Magazine issues of “Best Doctors in New York”, and “Best Cosmetic Doctors” of the TriState Area for over 15 consective years, and has held the honor of “Teacher of the Year” and “Clinician of the Year” .

 

Dr. Polis established one of the first "medical spa" and multidisciplinary treatment centers incorporating both Western and Eastern technologies and approaches in the country and is well known for her multifaceted approach to medical and dermatologic conditions, and her 'thinking outside the box' approach. She is often consulted by colleagues for her opinion.
