About Me

Kyrollis Attalla, MD, is a Urologic Oncologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate, bladder, kidney, adrenal, testicular, penile, and upper tract urothelial cancers and his expertise includes robotic, laparoscopic, endoscopic, and open surgical techniques.

Dr. Attalla attended The Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education in New York City, a prestigous accelerated 7-year combined B.S./M.D. program in collaboration with the University at Buffalo School of Medicine where he earned his Medical Degree. He completed his general surgery internship and urological surgery residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Attalla joined the Department of Urology after completing one of the world’s premier Urologic Oncology fellowships accredited by the Society of Urologic Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City where he received highly advanced specialty training in complex open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery.

Dr. Attalla’s research interests are in the immunogenomic predictors of response to immunotherapy in bladder and kidney cancer and aims to characterize these responses on a genomic and molecular level. He was the first to publish on the prevalence and landscape of actionable genomic alterations in kidney cancer which represents the largest and most comprehensive series to date. He has received several academic awards for his research, including the National Institutes of Health/National Cancer Institute (NIH/NCI) T32 Ruth L. Kirschstein Post-Doctoral National Research Service Award. Dr. Attalla has authored numerous textbook chapters and scientific papers published in major high-impact journals and frequently presents his research at international, national, and regional scientific conferences. He additionally serves as an expert reviewer for multiple peer-reviewed academic journals.

Owing to the complex nature of urologic cancers and rapidly evolving treatment paradigms, Dr. Attalla believes in an integrated, multi-disciplinary approach to the treatment of urologic malignancies to offer comprehensive cancer care and to optimize surgical outcomes. His extensive training in open and minimally invasive robotic surgery allows him to tailor a unique surgical approach to each individual patient with a special emphasis on the preservation of quality of life.

Dr. Attalla is a member of the American Urological Association, Society of Urologic Oncology, and American Society of Clinical Oncology.
