Jeffrey Sandhaus, MD, is Assistant Clinical Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Chief of Urology at Mount Sinai Queens. After receiving his medical degree from New York Medical College, he completed a residency program in general surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital and a residency in urology at SUNY, Downstate Medical Center. He went on to complement his clinical experience with a fellowship in nephrology at SUNY, Downstate Medical Center.
Dr. Sandhaus has been interested in minimally invasive surgery and has pioneered the adoption of the no-scalpel vasectomy in the United States. His clinical interests in general urology include treating cancers of the prostate, bladder, kidney, and testicle, kidney stones and prostate enlargement. For more than 40 years, Dr. Sandhaus has been treating patients in the Queens community. He has participated in the Prostate Screening Initiative as part of the community outreach program of Mount Sinai Queens in conjunction with the NY Daily News newspaper.
For 15 consecutive years, 1998–2013, Dr. Sandhaus has been the recipient of the Castle Connolly Top Doctors: New York Metro Area Award. This recognition identifies the top physicians in the New York City area who possess a high level of medical skill and expertise based on the review of peer nominations. He is President of the Medical Staff of Mount Sinai Queens and a member of the American Urology Association.
