About Me

Dr. James Zellner is a specialist in cataract surgery. Graduating magna cum laude from the State University of New York at Buffalo, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and became a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society. He received his MD degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx and became a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners. Completing his residency training in ophthalmology at the Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, he became a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. Currently Dr. Zellner is a senior attending surgeon at the renowned New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai where he has spent years teaching future residents. He is also proudly affiliated with the Brooklyn Eye Surgery Center, a state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery center specializing exclusively in eye surgical procedures.

Dr. Zellner has spent his career in New York as a comprehensive ophthalmologist, personally caring for patients’ vision needs. Special areas of interest include cataracts treated with laser and premium lens implants, glaucoma screening and treatment, corneal transplants and LASIK refractive laser surgery.

Dr. Zellner is board-certified and a life member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has received many awards of recognition from the American Medical Association, Castle Connolly Best Doctors and Super Doctors lists.

Located in Bay Ridge Brooklyn, our office is an up-to-date fully equipped facility. Computerized diagnostic testing and laser treatments are done on site. We also offer retinal consultation and treatment for age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
