Dr. Icelini Garcia-Sosa is a board-certified bilingual psychiatrist in New York City. Dr. Garcia-Sosa has been in practice since 2010, and a professor in psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai since 2017. She trained at SUNY Downstate Medical Center for psychiatry residency, followed by a fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine focused on advanced psychopharmacology and schizophrenia research. She also completed training to provide psychodynamic psychotherapy at the NYU Psychoanalytic Institute associated with NYU Langone Hospital. She was recipient of the American Psychiatric Association AstraZeneca Minority Fellowship in 2007. Her areas of expertise include psychosis risk, cognitive-behavioral therapy for psychosis, cultural psychiatry, and mindfulness-based practices. Before taking her current position at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, Dr. Garcia-Sosa served as the Director of Behavioral Health at The Floating Hospital and later the Director of Adult Ambulatory Psychiatry Services at Mount Sinai St. Luke's and West. She is a co-founder of CUE Mount Sinai ( a psychosis-risk clinical and research program. In addition to teaching and treating patients at the Psychiatry Outpatient Services for Adults at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, she sees patients on a private basis by appointment.
