Dr. Gregory Tsai graduated from Princeton University and obtained his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. He completed his general surgery internship and residency training in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital. He spent several years in private practice in Great Neck and nine years with the Head & Neck Surgical Group on the Upper West Side, where he was partner, before joining the Mount Sinai staff as Assistant Professor.
Dr. Tsai is board certified in both otolaryngology and sleep medicine and treats both adults and children. He focuses his clinical practice on the treatment of head and neck disorders, and related surgical procedures, involving the nose and sinuses; voice and swallowing disorders; diseases of the ear and hearing loss, parathyroid and thyroid tumors; salivary gland disorders; and sleep apnea and snoring. He is an expert in scuba diving medicine and its related disorders in the ears and sinuses.
He has lectured and instructed other physicians in the United States about otolaryngology and sleep medicine, speaking at the national SLEEP meeting, and was a course director of Sleep Disorders: Diagnosis and Management at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospitals. He introduced drug-induced sleep endoscopy to the staff at Mount Sinai West and Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and has lectured about how this can change the surgical approach to sleep apnea.
Dr. Tsai’s specialty in scuba diving medicine stems from being a passionate scuba diver, and he is a referral physician for DAN (Diver’s Alert Network). In his spare time, Dr. Tsai serves as an usher captain at Redeemer Presbyterian Church and is a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Association and Christian Society of Otolaryngology. Over the years, he has participated in medical missions in Honduras and Nigeria and has provided specialty care to the homeless in outreach measures such as Don’t Walk By.
He has won research awards such as first place at the Triologic Society – Eastern Section and an Outstanding Basic Science Award at Mount Sinai Hospital. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
