George Ofori-Amanfo, MD is the Division Chief of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine in the Jack and Lucy Clark Department of Pediatrics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and at the Mount Sinai Kravis Children's Hospital. He joins our Department from Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, Albert Einstein College of Medicine and has previously been on faculty at the Children’s Hospital of New York, Columbia University, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and Duke University Medical Center.

Dr. Ofori-Amanfo is board certified in pediatrics, pediatric critical care medicine and pediatric cardiology and comes with extensive clinical and leadership experience. He is an outstanding intensive care physician with clinical focus in cardiac intensive care medicine, advanced respiratory care and mechanical cardiac support.

Dr. Ofori-Amanfo’s research interest is in cardiac arrest and resuscitation. He was a principal investigator for one of the largest, randomized pediatric trials investigating the effect of targeted temperature management on neurologic outcome and survival after cardiac arrest.

Dr. Ofori-Amanfo is formally trained in patient safety, performance improvement and value based healthcare delivery and has been involved in several major program development initiatives and performance improvement projects in healthcare in partnership with Deloitte Consulting.

Dr. Ofori serves on the American Heart Association Council on Cardiovascular Disease in the Young (CVDY) and is an Associate Editor for the Elsevier Congenital Heart Disease Center of Excellence.
