Dr. Erica Cardona is a bilingual board certified family medicine physician with over 15 years of experience in providing both urgent and primary care for all age groups while serving as an innovative leader in her community.  She started her medical career with acceptance to the highly competitive 7-year medical program at Sophie Davis School of Biomedicine where she earned her Bachelor of Science and her medical degree from Albany Medical College.  She completed residency training with Mount Sinai Family Medicine program at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. During this time, she served as a chief resident and was honored with resident of the year award from the program as well as resident teacher award from the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine. She participated in education and performance improvement committees as well as coordinated volunteer efforts of hospital's Community Outreach program.

After graduating residency, Dr. Cardona went on to practice primary care OB/GYN and family medicine in Great Neck, NY and honored her Sophie Davis school commitment to provide primary care to the under-served community at East New York, Brooklyn.  She was quickly promoted to medical director of Medisys East New York where she worked with doctors, nurses and administrators toward organizational improvement to provide superior patient centered medical care. These efforts were successful in achieving recognition from NCQA as level 3 patient centered medical home.  In August 2016, she received city council citation for exemplary community service in Brooklyn.  In 2017, she again was awarded city council citation in Queens, as well as certificate of excellence from Healthcare Association of NY State, for providing health care in Puerto Rico during hurricane Maria relief efforts coordinated by NY state.  Dr. Cardona joined Mount Sinai Health System in Westchester this year to provide primary care services in Pelham office.
