Dr. David Steiger graduated from Leeds Medical School, United Kingdom, in 1981. After completing 3 years of post graduate training in England, he was a resident and Chief Medical Resident at St. Luke's Hospital in NYC, which was followed by training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. During this time, Dr. Steiger participated in basic science research. He was the Director of the ICU at the Hospital for Joint Diseases, NYU Medical Center. He was also an Associate Professor of Medicine at NYU. Currently, Dr. Steiger is the Chief of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in NYC.

Lung Research
I have pursued clinical and translational researech in the field of venous thromboembolic disease. In particular, I am interested in the determinants of venous thromboembolic disease, the clinical presentations and management of this disease, and the role of new therapeutic agents.
