Constantine Kosmas, MD, PhD

About Me

Constantine E. Kosmas, M.D., Ph.D., FACC, FACP is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Medical Director of Mount Sinai Advanced Cardiovascular Group in Astoria, New York.  He was born in Athens, Greece.  He graduated with "Excellent" from the University of Athens Medical School, Athens, Greece and he was also granted a doctorate (Ph.D.) by the University of Athens Medical School.  The title of his doctoral thesis was:  "Substitution of the left and right ventricles by counterpulsation pumps during ventricular fibrillation.  Mechanism of the hemodynamic effect of the right ventricular pump".

He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at St. John's Episcopal Hospital, Far Rockaway, NY and his fellowship in Cardiology at Episcopal Hospital, Philadelphia, PA. 

Before joining the Faculty of Mount Sinai, he has been Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Medical School of the University of Pennsylvania and at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University.  Dr. Kosmas has also served as Director of Clinical Services and Associate Director of Nuclear Cardiology at Episcopal Hospital, Philadelphia, PA, as well as Acting Director of Coronary Care Unit at New York Hospital Queens, Flushing, New York.

Dr. Kosmas holds Board Certifications in Cardiovascular Disease, Nuclear Cardiology and Clinical Lipidology.  He has also been extensively involved in cardiovascular research with several publications in the medical literature.
