Dr. Clemens is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He maintains leadership roles in developing curricula for medical students, improving quality of communications between physicians and patients, and optimizing implementation of electronic medical records (EMR), using Epic, the Mount Sinai EMR system since 2001.
After beginning his practice in New York City in 1997, Dr. Clemens joined Family Health Associates in 2010 and has shown a deep commitment to practicing culturally sensitive pediatric and adolescent medicine in the socioeconomically and culturally diverse communities of Queens and surrounding boroughs. He has cared for children in underserved neighborhoods in East and West Baltimore, and a Navajo reservation in Arizona; his experience includes inpatient, outpatient and emergency room settings.
Dr. Clemens enjoys teaching medical students and demonstrating, by example, compassion for all families and a genuine interest in their stories. His curiosity about music and cultures from around the world is often a bridge to fully understand and value the perspectives of his patients, thus helping him to better care for them as a physician.
He and his wife live with their two young sons in Astoria, where he often greets patients on family walks in the neighborhood.
