Dr. Benjamin Kummer is a neurologist specializing in stroke and clinical informatics. He serves as a stroke neurohospitalist on the Mount Sinai inpatient stroke service, and as a teaching attending in the Mount Sinai neurology resident clinic. As a clinical informaticist, Dr. Kummer's interest is in developing and implementing information technology solutions to enhance neurological care quality & efficiency at Mount Sinai, such as clinical decision support tools, predictive analytic models, and mobile- and tele-health.

Dr. Kummer completed his undergraduate medical training at Drexel University College of Medicine (formerly known as MCP Hahnemann School of Medicine), earning his MD in 2011. He completed medical internship at New York Presbyterian Hospital / Columbia University Medical Center in 2012, followed by neurology residency at the Neurological Institute of New York at Columbia Unversity Medical Center in 2015. He completed vascular neurology fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital / Weill Cornell Medical Center in 2016, followed by a clinical informatics fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center in 2018. 

Dr. Kummer has published work on stroke systems of care, inpatient neurological care, and the use of clinical informatics solutions in neurology. He is fluent in French and Spanish, and is board certified in neurology and vascular neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is also board certified in clinical informatics by the American Board of Preventative Medicine. In his spare time he enjoys playing music and traveling.
