Barak Rosenn, MD, is Director of the Division of Obstetrics and Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Mount Sinai West, a position he has held since 2000. He is also a professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Science at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Rosenn is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology, and in the maternal-fetal medicine subspecialty. His clinical expertise spans the full range of high-risk obstetrics, with special interests in obstetrical ultrasound, diabetes in pregnancy, medical complications of pregnancy, and multifetal pregnancy. He has particular expertise in the management of pregnant women with diabetes and has made many research contributions related to their care, with numerous publications in the medical literature. Dr. Rosenn received his medical degree from the Hebrew University Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem. He received postgraduate training in obstetrics and gynecology at Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, and at the University of Cincinnati (UC), where he also completed a clinical fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine. He was the medical director of the University of Cincinnati Women’s Health Service, and acting director of the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine of the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, prior to assuming the role of Director of Obstetrics and Maternal Fetal Medicine at Roosevelt Hospital (now renamed Mt. Sinai West) in New York in 2000. In 2007, Dr. Rosenn led the effort to establish an accredited Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship Program at Mt. Sinai West, and was program director from then until 2015. He is an elected member of several professional societies, including the Society of Reproductive Investigation (SRI), the Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM), the American Gynecologic and Obstetrical Society (AGOS), and the New York Obstetrical Society, where he served as president from 2014-2015. He is a founding member of the North American Study Group on Diabetes in Pregnancy and was voted leader of the SMFM’s Diabetes in Pregnancy Special Interest Group for 2000-2002.
