Dr. Kagen has used novel MRI techniques and coils in the field of prostate MRI in order to improve patient comfort and image quality during prostate MRI examinations. This research has led to improved patient satisfaction for this particular procedure at his institution. In addition, Dr. Kagen used new MRI contrast agents in the assessment of patients undergoing microsurgical reconstruction of the breast, extremities and lymphatic system. He currently works on research aimed at the preoperative and postoperative assessment of patients undergoing vascularized lymph node transfer. He also focuses extensively on diseases of the liver, with special attention to novel molecular imaging agents in MRI which can help provide insight into hepatocellular tumor biology.
