Ever since Katie Couric had a colonoscopy on the "Today" show in 2000, there has been an uptick in the public awareness of colorectal cancer, but a third of adults age 50 and over are still not getting screened.
"Colorectal cancer is the most treatable and preventable cancer we have, but 55,000 Americans a year are still dying from it," said Alex Ky-Miyasaka, MD, Associate Professor of Surgery at The Mount Sinai Hospital. "While it's stating the obvious to say that no one wants to get a colonoscopy, I have a simple line for patients: Don't die of embarrassment." Learn more
