Since 1986, the Rehabilitation Medicine at Mount Sinai has been recognized for our ability to address the comprehensive needs of people with a variety of rehabilitative needs. The Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) has accredited many of our inpatient and outpatient programs, including rehabilitation for brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, and stroke. Our CARF accreditation signals our commitment to keep patients at the center of care, continuously improve our services, encourage feedback from our patients and serve anyone seeking rehabilitative care at Mount Sinai.
The National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR) awards grants to institutions that are national leaders in medical research and patient care and provide the highest level of comprehensive specialty services, from the point of injury through rehabilitation and re-entry into full community life.
Mount Sinai is funded by the NIDILRR as a Model System of Care for both Brain Injury and Spinal Cord Injury. The Traumatic Brain Injury program is one of only 16 in the U.S. and has been recognized since 2002. Our Spinal Cord Injury program is one of only 14 centers nationwide.
