Comprehensive Diagnostic Evaluation
Our initial intake evaluation is a 120-minute session in which the therapist collects a thorough overview of information from the patient to get a better understanding of their specific symptoms and concerns. The information gathered during the diagnostic evaluation helps the therapist develop a specific treatment plan that best suites the patient.
In the case that the therapist feels that the patient needs more intensive treatment than our program can provide, referrals will be provided. Information gathered includes demographics, medication history, treatment history, eating related symptoms, course of illness since onset, and any other psychiatric diagnoses or impressions.
Pre-Bariatric Surgery Psychological Evaluations
The degree of success of bariatric (weight-loss) surgery depends largely on a patient’s ability to handle postsurgical lifestyle. The purpose of a pre-surgical bariatric psychological evaluation is to ensure the safety of the individual by identifying risk factors and barriers to make post-operative lifestyle changes, to better understand the person’s expectations and emotional preparation for the surgery and to gain background information important to the evaluation.
A copy of the evaluation report will be sent to your doctor within 7-10 business days from the date of assessment. If needed sooner, you may specify this request when you first call.
