Diagnostic Evaluations

The Eating and Weight Disorders Program offers the following diagnostic evaluations and assessments.

Comprehensive Diagnostic Evaluations:  The initial intake is a 2-hour diagnostic evaluation.  This thorough, multi-disciplinary evaluation, which includes a history of your course of illness since onset and your medical and psychiatric history, will allow the provider to get an understanding of the specific nature of your illness and begin to develop the best treatment plan for you.

Pre-Bariatric Surgery Psychological Evaluations: The degree of success of bariatric (weight-loss) surgery depends largely on a patient’s ability to handle postsurgical lifestyle. The purpose of a pre-surgical bariatric psychological evaluation is to ensure the safety of the individual by identifying risk factors and barriers to make post-operative lifestyle changes, to better understand the person’s expectations and emotional preparation for the surgery and to gain background information important to the evaluation.

A copy of the evaluation report will be sent to your doctor within 7-10 business days from the date of assessment. If needed sooner, you may specify this request when you first call.
