Crain’s Health Pulse – Dr. Alexis Colvin: “Tennis, Anyone?”
There was a rain delay at yesterday's U.S. Open, but earlier in the week The Mount Sinai Medical Center staff manned a booth handing out free sunscreen and UV-indicator bracelets to promote sun safety and skin cancer prevention. Mount Sinai is the official medical services provider and hospital of the USTA and the US Open. Alexis Colvin, MD, assistant professor of sports medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and a specialist in the surgical treatment of sports-related injuries of the knee, shoulder and hip, is the USTA's chief medical officer. She previously served as a consultant to the USTA for the US Open, providing medical care to the players. Mount Sinai's medical team is working with ProHealth Care Associates, a group practice that has provided medical services at the US Open since 1997.
