 – March 27, 2013  ––

There are currently 13.7 million cancer survivors in the United States and the number is expected to rise by 31 percent to 18 million by 2022, according to a new report. “Cancer is often not the immediately fatal diagnosis it often was in the past,” said one expert, Dr. William Oh, chief of the division of hematology/oncology at Mount Sinai Medical Center. He was not involved in the new report, which comes from the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). The report appears in the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention and will be presented at the AACR annual meeting, held from April 6 to 10 in Washington, D.C. Learn more
