The treatment of facial aging has undergone revolutionary changes over the past twenty years, especially in the areas of “nonsurgical” or “minimally invasive” facial rejuvenation. Relaxing agents (BOTOX™ and Dysport™), along with soft tissue fillers (Juvaderm, Restylane, Radiesse and Sculptra), have become increasingly popular. Advances in laser treatments and technology have complemented these developments. Together, these treatments provide safe, minimally invasive, nonsurgical treatment options for patients interested in addressing various aspects of facial aging; lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone and discoloration, sagging skin and changes in facial contours that occur as we age. These treatments are often cost effective and most of them can be performed during a routine office visit with minimal or no downtime.
All patients interested in cosmetic treatments at Mount Sinai’s Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Program undergo and extensive consultation to identify areas of concern, review their goals and develop an individually tailored treatment plan. Cost is always concern, as insurance does not generally cover surgery or treatment that is done purely for cosmetic reasons. We provide patients with expected costs prior to any intervention.
