What to Expect the Day of Your Visit

Upon arrival to the program, located on Fifth Avenue at 100th Street, at entry level a Senior Attending Physician and members of the Mount Sinai staff will greet you. Immediately blood and urine specimens will be obtained for an array of tests, the results of which will be provided during your summary session with the physician at the close of the day. After these samples are collected we will escort you to the examination area for electrocardiogram (EKG). You will then spend about an hour with the physician, who will review your medical history in detail and perform a comprehensive physical examination.

An Exercise Stress Echocardiogram will follow next under the supervision of a Cardiologist, during which you will walk on a treadmill with a before and after echocardiography taken to evaluate the structure and function of your heart. Exercise Stress Echocardiogram is a painless, harmless, test that uses high frequency sound waves (ultrasound) to examine the hearts anatomy and function. This assessment allows us to investigate the status of your heart at rest, as well as immediately following stress. This valuable information can provide whether or not you have significant blockages in your heart arteries, evaluate the pumping function of your heart and the status of your heart valves.

Following the Exercise Stress Echocardiogram test you will have a light breakfast and then continue on to your next examinations all the while accompanied by our concierge service. Examinations include CT scanning of your chest, abdominal and pelvic organs to detect pathology at the earliest possible stages, consultations with dermatology and audiometry to evaluate hearing and issues involving the skin. Your comprehensive medical examinations will also include an ophthalmology examine to test your vision, carotid ultrasound to measure precisely the walls of the carotid artery in the neck, and pulmonary function test to evaluate your lung function.

At the conclusion of the day, with all laboratory results, diagnostic imaging and consultations in hand a Senior Attending Physician will thoroughly summarize your personalized comprehensive health assessment. If there are any issues identified which may require additional evaluation and/or treatments we will help coordinate the next step in managing your health.

The physician will explain the significance of any abnormalities and advice further action, which you might also want to discuss with your personal physical.

The program is designed to provide comprehensive and integrated screening for a wide range of possible diseases and health insurance typically does not provide reimbursement for these examinations. It is precisely these services that distinguish this unique program. We ask that you please read carefully the Notice of Exclusion from Insurance Benefits to avoid any misunderstanding regarding the cost of service. We do not bill any insurance companies.
