A Center of Innovation and Compassionate Care
The Susan and Leonard Feinstein Inflammatory Bowel Disease Clinical Center provides special expertise within Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital for IBD patients. Under the direction of Marla C. Dubinsky, MD, and Jean-Frederic Colombel, MD, the Feinstein IBD Center has pioneered many firsts in terms of research, diagnosis, and treatment. For instance, the Center is the first IBD center in the United States to integrate intestinal ultrasound routinely into clinical care. With intestinal ultrasound, doctors can monitor flare-ups in patients with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis without the need for bowel preparation or fasting. This non-invasive, real-time diagnostic tool enables patients and their doctors to better understand disease activity, response to treatment, and healing.
At the Feinstein IBD Center, each of our young patients receives 360◦ care. Teamwork and communication are key. A team of expert providers, nurses, pharmacists, dietitians, behavioral health and child-life specialists work as one, providing personalized care. Our pediatric patients also have access to the most innovative treatments. Our compassionate care goes hand in hand with a vibrant and rich tradition of research and discovery. Our team not only treats patients, but take part in developing new drugs, conducts clinical trials, and creates new strategies in disease management. Mount Sinai’s Feinstein IBD Center is one of the few centers in the world to provide this type of comprehensive and pioneering IBD care.
