Trust Mount Sinai for Your Kidney Transplantation Patients
You can rely on Mount Sinai to provide experienced, innovative, and compassionate care for your patients who may need a kidney transplant or have complex kidney conditions. The Recanati/Miller Transplantation Institute at Mount Sinai is one of most experienced transplant programs in the nation. Our Kidney Transplantation program is known for doing complex surgeries including simultaneous kidney/liver, kidney/pancreas, pediatric, and other highly sensitive transplants with an outstanding success rate. We have pioneered many procedures and techniques including:
- The first HIV+ patient to receive a kidney transplant in New York State
- The first pediatric living donor kidney transplant in New York State
In addition, we treat patients with conditions who were previously denied access to transplantation. Mount Sinai is one of the few centers in the USA approved to provide HIV+ recipients with these life-saving organs. And now that there are direct-acting antiviral treatments that make Hepatitis C curable, patients now have the option to receive a Hepatitis C kidney. This means a significantly reduced wait time on the transplant list.
Our team takes great pride in partnering and communicating with referring physicians. A multidisciplinary team, which includes a nephrologist, surgeon, immunologist, urologist, clinical coordinator, nutritionist, social worker, and financial coordinator, tracks each patient’s care both pre-and post-transplant.
