Gregg W. Stone, MD, FACC, FSCAI, a renowned interventional cardiologist, joined the Mount Sinai Health System as Director of Academic Affairs for Mount Sinai Heart on September 16. He will also have professorships in the Departments of Medicine (Cardiology), and Population Health Sciences and Policy, at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

We are pleased to announce that Gregg W. Stone, MD, FACC, FSCAI, has joined the Mount Sinai Health System as Director of Academic Affairs for Mount Sinai Heart. He will also have professorships in the Departments of Medicine (Cardiology), and Population Health Sciences and Policy, at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Dr. Stone's areas of expertise include interventional therapies of acute coronary syndromes and myocardial infarction; drug-eluting stents and bioresorbable scaffolds; and left main and complex coronary artery disease intervention.

A renowned interventional cardiologist, Dr. Stone has served as the principal investigator for more than 100 multicenter randomized trials, many of which have led to new device approval or indications in the United States. He has delivered thousands of lectures around the world and penned more than 2,000 manuscripts and abstracts for peer-reviewed journals. With a 2018 H-factor of 152, Dr. Stone was recently listed in Nature Medicine as one of the most prolific authors in science. He serves as Co-Director of Medical Research and Education at the Cardiovascular Research Foundation, and as co-Course Director of Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics 2019, the world's largest symposium devoted to interventional cardiology and vascular medicine.

Dr. Stone joins Mount Sinai from Columbia University Medical Center/NewYork-Presbyterian, where he served as Professor of Medicine and Director of Cardiovascular Research and Education within the Center for Interventional Vascular Therapy. Previously he was the Director of Interventional Cardiology at the Cardiovascular Institute at El Camino Hospital and Stanford University Medical Center.

Dr. Stone completed medical school at Johns Hopkins University Medical Center. He conducted an internship and residency at the NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and completed his general cardiology fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center under celebrated cardiologist and medical inventor Jeremy Swan, MD, PhD. Subsequently, he entered a fellowship in advanced coronary angioplasty with preeminent cardiologist Geoffrey O. Hartzler, MD, in Kansas City, MO.
