We offer a wide range of treatment options for hand, wrist, shoulder and elbow in a brand new center
When it comes to something as important as orthopedic treatment, choosing the right place for your care is one of the key decisions you’ll make. The C.V. Starr Hand and Upper Extremity Center is dedicated to doing one thing extraordinarily well: treating upper extremities. Don’t let injuries and conditions affecting your hands, wrists, elbows, and shoulders keep you from living life to your fullest. Making an appointment with an expert at Mount Sinai West’s C.V. Starr Hand and Upper Extremity Center is the first step to returning to your best life.
Every doctor in the Center brings a specialty and expertise to treat each condition—whether it’s a fracture, arthritis, nerve injury, congenital problem, or other condition affecting the upper extremities. Our internationally recognized doctors and therapists are changing the care of these conditions with innovations that make the treatment less invasive and more comfortable, the recovery quicker and, above all, the outcome more consistently and reliably successful.
We offer a wide range of hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder treatments.
Hand: The hand is a complex combination of bones, ligaments, nerves, and tendons. We can help with a variety of issues, including arthritis, trigger finger, finger fractures, tendon disorders or injuries, hand nerve injuries, and wounds.
Wrist: Your wrists help you work, play, and do everyday activities. Arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, fractures and compound fractures, ganglion cysts, scaphoid injuries, sprains, and tendonitis can interfere—and we can help.
Elbow: The elbow is a complex joint where several bones meet. We can help with dislocations, sprains, fractures, injuries due to chronic overuse, golfer’s elbow, nerve damage, soft tissue degeneration, tennis elbow, and other conditions.
Shoulder: The most movable joint in the body, the shoulder is also one of the most unstable. We can help with a range of conditions, including arthritis, bursitis, dislocations, fractures, separations, sprains, strains, tendonitis, and torn rotator cuffs.
Treatment in a New, Modern, Comfortable Center
The C.V. Starr Hand and Upper Extremity Center moved into a new 4,500 square foot suite—located at Mount Sinai West, 425 West 59th Street, 6th floor— featuring a state-of-the-art X-ray room. The new center also includes contemporary installations and incorporates illustrations created by J. William Littler, MD, who founded the hand surgery unit in 1952.
We are proud to continue this 70-year legacy of innovation and excellence. The C.V. Starr Hand and Upper Extremity Center provides comprehensive, coordinated, and multidisciplinary services for orthopedic issues related to the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. Our experts have pioneered new minimally invasive surgical techniques and hold Certificates of Added Qualifications in Hand Surgery from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
