At the Susan and Leonard Feinstein Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Clinical Center at Mount Sinai, your care and comfort is of utmost important to us. We will do everything we can to make your experience at our IBD Center a positive one. Our relationship with you starts the first time you contact us to request an appointment or ask a question.

By preparing for your appointment using the following guidelines, you are taking a proactive role in making your appointment go smoothly and be as productive as possible. We appreciate your partnership, and we will do our part.

Before you see your doctor, please keep the following in mind to help you prepare for your visit.

Appointment Time: Please know that we value your time. We will do what we can to inform you of any unavoidable delays on our end. In return, please let us know if you are running late. It happens to all of us, whether it’s a train slowdown, a late babysitter, or traffic. If you tell us that you’re delayed, we will do our best to adjust our schedule or find another time for your appointment.

Medical Records: If you have medical records about your IBD or a related health condition from other physicians, or test and imaging results, please send them to us. Before your appointment, it’s a good idea to make sure that we received your medical records.

Medications: Before your visit to Mount Sinai, please make an up-to-date list of all the medications you are currently taking. We have an electronic medical record that keeps track of the medications you take. However, it’s best to bring the latest list with you.

Follow-up: After your appointment, we will give you a personalized and complete treatment plan for you. That plan will include information about referral appointments, additional tests, and how you will learn about your test results.

One great tool is Mount Sinai’s secure patient portal, MyChart, which gives you easy access to your medical records, including test results. Through your MyChart account, you can make prescription refill requests. And, you can send email messages to your doctor. If you do not already have a MyChart account, please ask the front desk receptionist for an access code when you check in.

Insurance: The Feinstein IBD Center accepts most insurance plans, including Medicare. We encourage you to check with your insurance company before your appointment. If you have any questions, you can ask us for help.
