Student Research

Basic Science Laboratory Research

Students have the opportunity to assist the professional staff with basic science laboratory techniques, maintenance of equipment and supplies, data entry and compilation, and searching medical databases for scientific references.

  • Excellent opportunity for students who wish to learn about lab-based research
  • Training and supervision provided
  • Minimum age: 15
  • Minimum hours: 15 hours per week for four months during the academic year; 5 days per week for 8 weeks during the summer (minimum number of hours may vary with placement)
  • Times to volunteer: Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm

Clinical Research

Students assist with clinical research projects in a variety of ways, including confirming and scheduling appointments; data collection, entry, and analysis; and compiling and submitting essential documents in accordance with institutional guidelines. 16 and 17-year olds may only assist with data entry.

Excellent opportunity for students who wish to learn about clinical research.

Academic Year

Submit the Research Volunteer Questionnaire, along with your resume, to kaye.derman@mountsinai.org for consideration of a 4-month placement during the academic year.

Summer

  • December 1 - 22, 2015: Submit the Research Volunteer Questionnaire and your resume
  • January 4 - 8, 2016: Notification as whether or not you will be interviewed
  • January 4 – February 5, 2016: Interview period
  • February 22 – 26, 2016: Notification of acceptance
