Mount Sinai School of Medicine's affiliation with Elmhurst and Queens Hospital Centers, serving culturally diverse communities in Queens, New York, provides a full range of physician assistants. We are currently seeking a full time physician assistant to work at Queens Hospital Center 40 hours per week. Under the supervision of a licensed and board certified physician, you will evaluate and treat patients having medical, psychiatric and/or surgical problems and assist in delivery of obstetrical care; perform routine history and physical/psychiatric examinations. You will also perform and/or interpret diagnostic tests and/or procedures as detailed in the department specific scope of practice. In addition, you will participate in teaching and quality assurance activities with other members of the clinical department as well as deliver direct patient care.
The qualified candidate will possess a completion of NYS approved program preferably from an Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) for training of physician assistant via Bachelor of Science or Master's degree. Additional education/experience may be required for some specialty areas. Current New York State licensure as a Physician Assistant and Certification with National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) required. Current unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certificate for mid-level providers (Full schedule: 2. 2N, 3, 3N, 4, 5) as well New York State Infection Control Course certificate required. Completion and current certification of ACLS/BLS/PALS may be required in some areas of patient care as indicated by the department directives. Excellent interpersonal skills a must with a high level of analytical ability required to effectively and expeditiously diagnose and treat medical/surgical problems under the direction of physician. High degree of responsibility required for daily contacts with patients and their families. Manual dexterity required for adept manipulation of surgical instruments and handling of medical equipment; physical strength necessary for lifting and proper handling/positioning of patients.
