Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Chief Occupational Therapist and oversight of the Senior and Licensed physicians and Licensed Physician Assistance, provides occupational therapy services to hospital patients: evaluates and reevaluates, writes treatment plans and treats patients suffering from physical disabilities. Delivers direct patient care to patients of all age groups.

Job Qualifications:

-Job requires completion of NYS-approved and American Occupational Therapy Association-certified program for training of occupational therapists to acquire theoretical and practical and practical knowledge of evaluation and treatment of physical and psychosocial dysfunction, orthotics, prosthetics, and physiology at level normally attained via Bachelor's Degree in occupational therapy.
-Eligible for new graduate or have 3 or more years experience in a healthcare quality/ or of organization. Should have good/solid evaluation skills and treatment skills. Should be able to relate and interact with other staff, other disciplines, patients and their families or caregivers.
-Manual dexterity required for adaptive manipulation and fabrication for adaptive equipment; physical strength necessary for lifting and proper handling or positioning of patients or for moving equipment.
-Should have a current Occupational Therapy Registration and certification, issued by the University of the State of New York Education Department, office of the Professional.
-Should have current certification with National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy, Inc.
-Basic knowledge in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
-Interpersonal skills at high level to communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, other health care professionals, patients, patients' families; must be able to communicate effectively when conversing with students.
-Legible and clear written documentation with proper use of acceptable medical terms, descriptive of patients conditions.
