Symptoms of Arrhythmia

Arrhythmias may cause a variety of symptoms because the heart is working less effectively. Many people experience palpitations—sensations that your heart is pounding skipping or racing—when they have an arrhythmia.

It is important to watch for these and other symptoms associated with arrhythmia. Symptoms of an arrhythmia include:

  • Palpitations
  • Dizziness or light-headedness
  • Fainting
  • Weak, thready, or irregular pulse
  • Fatigue
  • Shortness of breath
  • Chest discomfort
