The Search for Genes That Prevent Disease
Finding people with genes that allow them to stay healthy is the goal behind a massive study launched by non-profit research organization Sage Bionetworks at the Icahn Institute for Genomics and Multiscale Biology at Mount Sinai. “This Resilience Project hopes to uncover others like them who, every day, unbeknownst to them, are walking around, buffering against illnesses they were all but guaranteed to get,” said Eric Schadt, PhD, Director of the Institute for Genomics and Multiscale Biology, Chairman of the Department of Genetics and Genomics Sciences, and the Jean C. and James W. Crystal Professor of Genomics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and Co-Investigator of the Resilience Project.
