Acid Violence in Cambodia

Acid violence is an alarming problem in Cambodia, where car battery acid is increasingly invoked as a weapon of choice in domestic disputes and lovers’ quarrels. The readily available and inexpensive acid destroys the lives of its victims in the harshest of ways. Mount Sinai’s Dr. Ebby Elahi, an oculoplastic and reconstructive surgeon, leads a team of physicians, sponsored by the Virtue Foundation, to Phnom Penh, Cambodia where they performed plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Rose Charities Clinic on victims of acid attacks.
