Mount Sinai Heart Hosts 16th Annual Live Symposium of Complex Coronary Cases: June 11-14
The Mount Sinai Medical Center will host its 16th Annual 2013 Live Symposium of Complex Coronary, Valvular and Vascular Cases on June 11-14.
More than 1,100 interventional cardiac specialists, radiologists, vascular surgeons, fellows, nurses, technicians and other allied healthcare professionals working in cardiac catheterization and vascular laboratories around the globe will gather at The Mount Sinai Medical Center on June 11-14 at its 16th Annual 2013 Live Symposium of Complex Coronary, Valvular and Vascular Cases.
Mount Sinai Heart's four-day Symposium features more than 20 "live" broadcasts of cardiac procedures, leading expert presentations and panel discussions about the latest advances and approaches to the treatment of patients with complex coronary and cardiovascular disease. The Symposium will focus on all the emerging areas in the field of cardiac intervention with individual days dedicated to endovascular intervention, coronary intervention, structural heart disease, as well as, nursing.
The goal of Mount Sinai Heart's innovative Symposium, launched in 1998, is to continuously drive innovation in the field of interventional cardiovascular medicine and to help others in the field achieve safe procedural outcomes and appropriately select the best procedure for each of their patients.
The large event is hosted by Mount Sinai's Samin Sharma, MD, the Director of Clinical & Interventional Cardiology, Annapoorna S. Kini, MD, the Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, Prakash Krishnan, MD, Director of Endovascular Intervention in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, and Peter L. Faries, MD, Chief of Vascular Surgery. In addition, a special symposium for nurses and technologists will be directed by Mount Sinai's Beth Oliver, DNP, RN, the Vice President of Clinical Operations for Mount Sinai Heart, and Antonietta Tolentino, MSN, ANP-C.
"As practicing Interventionalists, we must continually make changes to appropriately treat coronary, valvular, and peripheral vascular disease based on the available devices, therapy and trial results," said Dr. Sharma, Director of Clinical & Interventional Cardiology at Mount Sinai. "Hence, we need to participate in continuing educational activities to remain current. The issue of experience and cost-effectiveness of a new technology or technique always needs to be weighed against the established practices, before making any decision in our daily practice. That is exactly what we plan to achieve at our four-day 16th Annual 2013 Live Symposium of Complex Coronary, Valvular and Vascular Cases."
