Mount Sinai Doctors Named Among the Elite by New York Magazine in 2013 "Best Doctors" Issue
New York magazine named 145 physicians from The Mount Sinai Medical Center to its “Best Doctors” list, up from 129 last year.
New York magazine named 145 physicians from The Mount Sinai Medical Center to its "Best Doctors" list, up from 129 last year. The new issue also lists 52 additional doctors who serve at hospitals within Mount Sinai’s affiliate network, which continues on a strategic growth trajectory. The "Best Doctors" issue, which this year features a total of 1,198 physicians, appears in the June 24 print issue and is available online at www.nymag.com/bestdoctors.

Mount Sinai physicians are featured in 50 of the 64 specialties reviewed in the magazine, including geriatric medicine, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopaedic surgery, otolaryngology, pediatrics, psychiatry, surgery, thoracic and cardiac surgery, vascular surgery and urology. In the Department of Medicine, 36 fulltime faculty and voluntary physicians in 13 specialties made the list.
Castle Connolly Medical Ltd, a New York City research and information firm, determines the rankings based on a regional peer-review survey that asks thousands of licensed physicians to nominate the physicians who, in their judgment, are the best in their field and related fields.
Castle Connolly tabulates the results, vets the nominee pool, and selects the top 10 percent of the region’s physicians to be published in its annual guidebook,Top Doctors: New York Metro Area. For the past 16 years, Castle Connolly has been providing New York with a shorter version of this list for publication in the magazine.
