A $120 million implementation of an Epic electronic health-record system has paid off for 1,029-bed The Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York. The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society announced that the hospital had received its HIMSS Enterprise Davies Award of Excellence, which recognizes effective use of EHRs to bolster quality and patient safety. HIMSS praised a number of Mount Sinai's EHR-enabled improvement programs, including initiatives that targeted preventable readmissions and sepsis.
